From the "Corriere di Livorno" in the May 25, 2008
As Martin Luther King said: "We begin to die the day we become indifferent. " Livorno has not always been so and continue to be indifferent to the decline and, conversely, the proposed remedies recipes and random structurally ineffective and in fact just about giving the final push on the descent. I refer in particular to recent analysis by Professor Massimo Paoli publicly expressed and largely agree.
The fundamental problem? What many do not seem to want to explain fully, but that is an assumption in almost trivial: the lack of a project and planning. At all levels. The lack of a "governance" which translated means that the policy is not presiding over any "vision", or medium or long ternine. Missing project political, the economic development project, the project office. Livorno suffers from the worst evil that one can wish that one of the "don'ts" (worse than "hurt") and who lives waiting for some sign from the outside and then finds himself, in fact, manage events and phenomena randomly. It 's so now at least ten years and we, undaunted in the status quo, we're all going on this road passing the time, so to speak, to develop low-ranging discussions and, in the proof of the facts, without concluding that much in terms of solid growth prospects in the future.
At the political level the big event, still the bearer of a great deal of trust and hope, was definitely the birth of the Democratic Party. A great opportunity to try to reverse course and put a condition of planning solutions and proposals for an area, as part of a political party, on the basis of participation as a fundamental and structural. Everything ok, even though many reservations have come out in practice by many including myself, for excessive interventionism and a massive dose of pure co-opted in various stages. But for now we put aside this issue and talk about political project. A gossips whatever, we can get things Livorno, could not help but notice two things objectively. The first is that the Democratic Party, the party that collects the entire ruling class and the "power" of Livorno is in fact a photocopy of the old DS, is the "style" that the names of the "bridge". Then we wonder where we can see the added value of a merger and where the real news. Applications are currently open. The second thing is the lack of a proposal in the parties and PD. It discusses the organization, even in a legitimate way, of primary, all beautiful. But the proposal, the "Project for Livorno" for the next five to ten years where he is? It should not be the first thing upon which to set a serious discussion? The fear is that in this campaign period for local elections, as usual, is simply playing the (poor) people chasing an end in itself and that the time is more important to get slaughtered on the names and the organization and not on programs, which to date have not yet gone out.
No, I'm not there. There I continued to live in the paradox of a city that has not always been so and still brag a high potential for growth and development. There I am, talking about "direct Livorno", according to subject and having to wait for someone to tell me how to behave to "respect the balance," while around the environment becomes increasingly degraded. There is a behavior because I'm stupid, is not part of the political culture I come from, and among other things, is not the reason for which I am working in PD rather the opposite. The first and urgent question, addressed to all and not just a political party then remains: "Where is the project to Livorno?" Especially on that and not only on the names you will have to play the real game of elections. Daniel
